Why map apps underestimate drive time
Google and Apple Maps give pure driving time. Real trips include fuel, bathroom breaks, meals and slowdowns — on a 10-hour drive that easily adds two hours or more.
How often should you stop?
Safety groups recommend a 15-minute break about every two hours. Most drivers are comfortable with 6–8 hours of driving a day before an overnight stop.
